Canadian Immigration &
Refugee Law Practice 2011 |
Annotated by one of Canada's leading immigration and
refugee law practitioners, Butterworths' Canadian Immigration & Refugee
Law Practice provides the foundation needed for any immigration and refugee
practitioner or consultant in one portable volume.
Canadian
Immigration & Refugee Law Practice, 2011 Edition provides you with an
overview of the legislative framework of Canadian immigration and refugee law
and guiding principles for the exercise of discretion by the Immigration and
Refugee Board. It captures the latest legislative update and case law, with
extensive commentary on the implications of the changes. |
The book's format was carefully designed for optimum
user-friendliness:
- Expert Commentary: Written by immigration
specialist Lorne Waldman, the commentary saves you valuable time by analyzing
the legislation for you.
- Thematically Organized Case Summaries: Each
section of the IRPA and key sections of the Regulations and Rules are followed
by carefully selected case summaries relevant to that particular section. These
concise summaries of case law make it easy for you to identify the cases you
need.
- In-depth Analysis: Cross-references to Lorne
Waldman's well-respected service, Butterworths Immigration Law and Practice,
2nd Edition, provides expanded analysis and practice tips in the
fast-changing area.
- Immigration and Refugee Protection Act,
Regulations and Rules, Related Legislation and International Trade
Agreements: All applicable Acts, regulations and court rules, related
legislation and International Trade Agreements are reproduced. Expert insight
into their application is provided making it easy to see how they will work in
your practice.
- Unannotated version of the Act: Full-text of
the Act is reproduced without commentary or case law, in double-column English
and French, making it easy to locate a section of legislation when representing
a case.
New legislation in this edition includes:
- Balanced Refugee Reform Act which received
Royal Assent on June 29, 2010. By this new legislation, the IRB will implement
two new divisions: a new Refugee Protection Division and a new Refugee Appeal
Division, as well as various new processes in support of these new divisions.
What all this means is that immigration and refugee law practitioners and
consultants must prepare themselves for yet another round of procedural changes
at the IRB.
The legislation reproduced in this text is current
to Canada Gazette Part I vol. 144:46 (November 13, 2010) and Canada Gazette
Part II vol. 144:23 (November 10, 2010). Legislation pending at the time of
printing is reproduced in shaded text.
This is an annual publication.
The 2011 edition was released December 2010. |
