Emergency Response Guidebook
2008 |
Emergency Response Guidebook 2008 is a vital
tool in providing initial guidance to emergency services personnel responding
to hazardous material incidents. ERG2008 is primarily a guide to aid
first responders in quickly identifying the specific or generic hazards of the
material(s) involved in an incident, and protecting themselves and the general
public during the initial response phase. The guidebook is not intended to
provide information on the physical or chemical properties of dangerous goods.
Emergency Response Guidebook 2008 is indexed numerically and
colour-coded so that vital information can be found quickly and easily. It
contains: |
 |
- index list of dangerous goods in numerical order of
ID number
- index list of dangerous goods in alphabetical order
of material name
- safety recommendations: 62 individual guides
containing potential hazards, suggested public safety measures and emergency
response actions
- listing, by ID number of Toxic Inhalation Hazard
(TIH) materials, including certain chemical warfare agents, and water-reactive
materials which produce toxic gases upon contact with water. A second table
lists by ID number, materials which produce large amounts of TIH gases when
spilled in water and identifies the TIH gases produced
The ERG2008 incorporates dangerous goods
lists from the most recent United Nations Recommendations as well as from other
international and national regulations. |
